Your information

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

SteadyGrit is a small, independent site. We would rather earn your trust than your data. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can change your mind later.

What we collect

We keep collection to the absolute minimum needed to run the site:

  • Your email address, but only if you choose to give it — when you download a guide, subscribe to a newsletter, or send us a message through the contact page.
  • What you tell us when you write to us, such as your name and the contents of your message.
  • Basic usage information — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring site — gathered automatically through analytics. This is aggregate behaviour, not a profile of you as a person.

We do not ask for your date of birth, phone number, home address, payment details, health information, or anything sensitive. We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.

How we use it

Your email address is used to send you the specific thing you asked for — the guide, the newsletter — and occasionally similar encouragement from us. Usage information helps us understand which articles actually help people, so we write more of those. That is the whole of it.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visitors and see which pages are read. Google may set a cookie in your browser to do this, and may transfer that information under its own privacy policy. We also use cookies where needed to keep you signed in to the parts of the site that require an account.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work; we will simply see less about how it is used.

The services we rely on

To keep things running we use a small number of trusted providers: an email service to deliver guides and newsletters, a database and hosting platform to serve the site, and Google Analytics for the counts above. Each of them handles data under its own privacy policy, and we share with them only what they need to do that one job.

Affiliate links

Some links on SteadyGrit are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy something through them. When you click one, the retailer — not SteadyGrit — may set a cookie so that your purchase is credited to us. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full picture.

Your choices

  • Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. One click removes you, no questions asked.
  • Ask us to see, correct, or delete what we hold about you and we will do it — usually within 30 days.
  • You can browse and read everything on this site without giving us your email address at all.

How long we keep it, and how we protect it

We keep your email for as long as you stay subscribed, and for a short period after you leave so we do not accidentally add you back. Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to be useful. Access to our systems is limited and protected, and we never publish your email publicly.

This is a site for grown-ups

SteadyGrit is written for adults, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us and we will remove it.

When this policy changes

If we change it in a way that matters to you, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell subscribers directly.

Talk to a human

Questions, corrections, or a request to be forgotten are all welcome. Email mark@steadygrit.com and you will get a reply from Mark, not an autoresponder.

This policy is provided for transparency and general information. It is not legal advice, and you may wish to have a professional review it for your circumstances.
